Getting your little one ready for kindergarten & beyond
Our pre-kindergarten classes use the Creative Curriculum model. This curriculum gives children the opportunity to learn in developmentally appropriate learning centers that prepare them for kindergarten. Children are allowed to choose activities to explore and question theories they create. Our learning centers include an art center, a science and sensory center, a dramatic play center, a language and literacy center, a manipulative/math center and a building center.
Our center runs a thematic based program, with themes running two weeks each. Pre-kindergarten
students are introduced to a new letter each week. These “Letters of the Week” are incorporated
throughout the theme to help children see the connection between the written word and the rest of the curriculum. Lesson plans will be posted each two week period. The lesson plan includes the goals and objectives for that theme as well as the activities that teachers have planned. Your child’s teacher will also post objective sheets next to activities in the classroom so you can see what skill or lesson your child is learning from each specific activity. We also do a “Kindergarten Readiness Assessment” three times during the Pre K year, so you are confident your child is ready to be successful in kindergarten.
Each student also receives a daily report that helps parents and teachers to work together to insure your child has a positive, learning experience at Bright Beginnings Preschool.
